Glass doors and steel doors for commercial buildings

Commercial glass doors are glazed entrance and internal doors for offices, shops, hotels, schools and public buildings - frameless for the most open look, or steel-framed where fire rating and heavy use matter. DoorTechnik designs and manufactures commercial glass doors and commercial steel doors in the UK at our Lincoln factory, made to measure for the opening, the performance required and the building.

Commercial glass doors

Our GL15 frameless glass door gives a clean, all-glass entrance with patch fittings, pull handles and the option of matching glass screens. Where a glazed door must also be a fire door, the SG20 steel-framed glass door is fire rated up to 180 minutes integrity, or 90 minutes integrity and insulation, and can be paired with SGP fire-rated glass partitions to form full glazed corridors and lobbies. Both can be manual or automatic operation, with access control, manifestation and escape hardware as the building needs - as on our stainless steel and glass entrances for John Lewis and Partners, the SG20 entrances for Rolls-Royce and the powered glass entrance at Buxton Crescent.

Steel doors for commercial buildings

Rear of house, commercial buildings need robust steel doorsets for plant rooms, risers, stores, service corridors and external access. The G15 steel personnel door is fire rated up to 160 minutes integrity and certified to PAS 24; the G20 heavy duty door and the X15 and X20 security doors (LPS 1175 SR2 and SR3) cover higher security; the AC15 acoustic door reduces noise from plant and meeting rooms; and the WE15 wood effect door gives a steel door the look of timber for offices, corridors and classrooms.

Access control, escape and compliance

Doorsets can be supplied with maglocks, electric strikes or motor locks to connect to the building's access control system, with panic bars to BS EN 1125, or push pads or lever-operated escape locks to BS EN 179 on escape routes, and with door closers or powered operators. Fire-rated doorsets are tested to BS 476 or BS EN 1634-1. Tell us the opening sizes, fire and security requirements and the finish you want, and we will specify the right door for each position.

Frequently asked questions

Are commercial glass doors fire rated?

They can be. Our SG20 steel-framed glass doors are fire rated up to 180 minutes integrity, or 90 minutes integrity and insulation, tested to BS 476 or BS EN 1634-1. Frameless GL15 glass doors are not fire rated and are used where no fire rating is required.
A frameless glass door (GL15) is a toughened glass leaf hung on patch fittings with no visible frame, for the most open look. A steel-framed glass door (SG20) has a slimline welded steel frame around the glass, which makes it stronger, suitable for heavy traffic and able to be fire rated.
Yes. Glass and steel doors can be fitted with powered operators for automatic opening, and with maglocks, electric strikes or motor locks that connect to the building access control system. Escape doors keep the required panic or push-pad hardware.
