Working with S J Thompson, we were asked to submit proposals to replace some doors for the John Lewis Partnership on their head office in London. The building was constructed in a contemporary style in the 1960’s, with extensive use of stainless steel profiles on parts of the envelope. As such, the doors needed to look similar to the original doors, and be in keeping with rest of the building.
We submitted designs based on our SG20 glass doors, which were approved by the John Lewis Partnership. The doors were built with multiple stainless steel mullions, surface mounted on the exterior side. Much care was taken to match and align our custom made mullions with the 3” width and spaces of the original stainless steel profiles surrounding the new doors. Panic bars to BS EN 1125 were fitted, as the doors are on designated escape routes.
