Steel doors for industrial and commercial buildings

Commercial and industrial steel doors are hinged steel personnel doorsets - a steel leaf and frame supplied as one unit - for factories, warehouses, workshops, plant rooms, substations and industrial units, as opposed to roller shutters or sectional doors for vehicles. DoorTechnik designs and manufactures external and internal steel doors in the UK at our Lincoln factory, made to measure and specified for fire, security, ventilation and acoustic performance.

Steel door ranges for industrial buildings

The G15 steel door is our standard industrial personnel door: fire rated up to 4 hours, certified to PAS 24, and available with vision panels, louvres, panic hardware and multi-point locking. The G20 heavy duty steel door is built for harder use and higher security, the E12 economy steel door suits budget-led positions such as stores and compounds, and the X15 and X20 security doors are certified to LPS 1175 SR2 and SR3 for high-risk sites. The AC15 acoustic door limits noise from generators and plant, the BR20 blast door protects high-risk areas, and louvred and vision-panel variants provide ventilation and visibility.

External steel doors

DoorTechnik external steel doorsets are made from galvanised steel, with weather seals, a choice of threshold to suit the floor and access requirements, and a polyester powder coat or plastisol finish in RAL or BS colours. Frames are made for fixing to masonry, steelwork or timber, and we always supply complete doorsets fully finished, with closers, limit stays, locks and handles fitted and tested before they leave the factory.

Where they are used

Typical positions are plant rooms and boiler rooms, switch rooms and substations, risers and service corridors, warehouse fire exits, loading-bay personnel doors and external access to compounds. Whether you need a single external steel door or a schedule of doorsets for a new industrial unit, send us the opening sizes and requirements and we will help you specify each door.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an industrial steel door and a roller shutter?

An industrial steel door is a hinged personnel doorset - a steel leaf in a steel frame - for people to walk through, and it can be fire rated, security rated and fitted with escape hardware. A roller shutter or sectional door is a vehicle or loading door. DoorTechnik makes the hinged steel doorsets.
They can be. Our G15 steel doors have been tested to BS 476 or BS EN 1634-1 and are available with 1, 2, 3 and 4 hour fire ratings, integrity only, depending on size and configuration. Not every steel door is a fire door - the rating applies only to tested doorsets.
Yes. Our external steel doorsets are galvanised, weather sealed and finished in polyester powder coat or plastisol, with thresholds and frames to suit the opening. They are used on factories, warehouses, plant rooms, substations and compounds across the UK.
The G15 is certified to PAS 24:2016. For higher risk sites the X15-2 and X15-3 security doors are approved to LPS 1175 Issue 7 Security Ratings 2 and 3 (LPCB certificate 1084a), and the X-Door range has been tested at security levels 2, 3 and 4.
