Fire rated glass doors are glazed doorsets that have been fire tested as a complete unit - glass, frame and hardware - so a door can be see-through and still hold back fire. DoorTechnik manufactures two models in the UK: the SG20 steel-framed glass fire door, rated up to 180 minutes, and the G15 steel fire door with one or two glass vision panels, rated up to 180 minutes.
Our SG20 Glass Fire Doors are available in multiple configurations and are fire rated with BS 476 or BS EN 1634 and have achieved integrity ratings from 30/0 to 180/0, and integrity and insulation ratings from 30/30 to 90/90. The slimline, welded steel glazing system, which is available with matching windows, can be used in heavy traffic areas such as buildings' main entrances.
Can fire doors have glass in them?
Yes. A fire door can have glass in it provided the glazed doorset has been tested to the rating required. Our SG20 glass fire door is available up to 180 minutes integrity, or 90 minutes integrity and insulation, with matching fire-rated screens. Our G15 steel fire door is available up to 180 minutes integrity with a glass vision panel, the fire resistance of the panel depending on the glass fitted, from 30 minutes up to 180 minutes.

Can fire doors have glass in them?
Yes, when the glazed doorset has been fire tested as a whole. Our SG20 steel-framed glass fire doors are rated up to 180 minutes, and our G15 steel fire doors can have fire-rated glass vision panels up to 180 minutes.
How long are fire rated glass doors rated for?
Our SG20 glass fire doors have achieved integrity ratings from 30 to 180 minutes, and integrity and insulation ratings from 30/30 to 90/90, tested to BS 476 or BS EN 1634. Size and locking limitations apply to each tested configuration.
Is a fire rated glass door the same as a fire door with a vision panel?
No. A fire rated glass door (SG20) is mostly glass in a slimline steel frame, for entrances, corridors and screens. A fire door with a vision panel (G15) is a solid steel fire door with a small glazed opening. Both are fire tested; the choice depends on how much glass and how much fire resistance you need.
