Steel Toilet Doors for Public Conveniences

Public toilets have commonly been targeted by vandals. Local councils and site operators have an interest in keeping their public conveniences clean and crime-free, and providing a pleasant experience for the user.

In response to the needs of local authorities, DoorTechnik have created a range of steel toilet doors to address these concerns: U15 Ultimate, UL15 Ultimate Lite, T15+, and the T15 Basic.

Suitable for use on new build toilet blocks, or as part of a planned refurbishment programme, the DoorTechnik toilet door range offers several levels of cubicle control and automation, and several finishes to suit the site. Powder coating is the standard finish, but doors may also be constructed from brushed stainless steel or Rimex textured stainless, or may be timber-clad on the external surface.

All of the DoorTechnik toilet doors are reliable and easy to manage, being vandal resistant, having a long operational life with full parts and service backup, are easy to clean, and have service deadlocks to put cubicles out of use or allow access for cleaners.

U15 and UL15 models are paid entry, with the contactless payment option allowing remote monitoring of user numbers and revenue taken. U15, UL15 and T15+ models automatically lock at night.

Frequently asked questions

What type of door is best for a public toilet?

DoorTechnik steel toilet doors are vandal-resistant, can take electric locking, and are easily cleaned. Entry control is chosen to suit the site, so can be: paid (U15, UL15), free with night lockdown (T15+), or a basic mechanical lock (T15). All of the toilet door models may be fitted with a RADAR lock for free entry to holders of the National Key Scheme standard key.
Our standard U15 unisex toilet doorset is 1120mm wide by 2185mm high overall, giving a clear opening of about 782mm by 2026mm; the DDA version is 1285mm by 2185mm overall with a clear opening of about 947mm by 2026mm. All doors are made to measure. Contact us to check minimum structural opening sizes, and to confirm clear openings against Part M.
A public toilet door is also called a public convenience door, a WC door or a cubicle door. In a public convenience it is usually a full doorset - a steel leaf and frame with its own lock - rather than a partition cubicle door. DoorTechnik calls them toilet doorsets.
The user pays by coin or contactless card at the external display and the door unlocks. Inside, a lock/unlock button secures the cubicle. On the U15 a timer limits usage to 15 minutes as standard, after which the door re-locks when the user leaves. U15 and UL15 doors count users and revenue, have an assistance alarm, and staff can unlock them with the service key or by turning off the power.
