Frequently asked questions

How long are your steel fire doors rated for?

Our steel fire doors are available as 1, 2, 3 and 4 hour fire resistant doorsets, integrity only, tested to BS 476 or BS EN 1634-1. Size and locking limitations apply to each tested configuration, so ask us to confirm the rating for your opening.
Yes. Our SG20 steel-framed glass fire doors are rated up to E180 (180 minutes integrity only) or EI90 (90 minutes integrity and insulation), and our G15 steel fire doors can include fire-rated glass vision panels up to 4 hours, dependent on the glass type fitted.
In general, yes, but there are a few exceptions. Approved Document B: 2019, Appendix C5 states the definitive requirements. Where a fire door needs to be held open in normal use, we can fit electro-hydraulic closers or hold-open magnets linked to the building fire alarm.
No. A steel door is only a fire door when that doorset - leaf, frame, glazing and hardware - has been fire tested. Our G15, SG20 and other ranges have tested fire-rated versions; the rating you need should be specified at the time of order.
