As part of the recent construction of the Lincoln Eastern Bypass, we were pleased to supply and install steel doors for this major engineering project. Working closely with our customer Braithwaite Engineers, and the main contractor Galliford Try, we arrived at a suitable specification for custom built G15 steel doors, to be fitted with Kaba Simplex code locks. The doors were to be installed to the underside of a road bridge over the Lincoln to Market Rasen railway line, only allowing access for authorised bridge maintenance and inspection staff.
As the doorsets needed to run at 56° across the cast concrete openings, and accommodate an intrusive concrete beam to the top of one opening, a detailed survey was conducted, after which templates were produced and then tested on site. Once we were satisfied with the fit of the templates, we designed and manufactured custom steel sub-frames to provide the necessary interface between the angled concrete surfaces and our G15 doorsets.
Working closely with the main contractor, DoorTechnik fitting teams safely installed the doors during scheduled lane closure periods, whilst working at height and in close proximity to live rail lines.
This project is a typical example of how we work with customers to find the best door solution for their needs, and shows the versatility of the G15 steel door.
