CE Marking

You may have seen the CE mark on toys or electronics – this mark is the manufacturer’s declaration that the product is safe and meets the requirements of the relevant European directives, and therefore allowed to be sold.

Under the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) it is now necessary for manufacturers to CE mark certain construction products before they can be sold – This now includes most external doorsets. The CPR will allow specifiers and customers to more easily compare a construction product’s performance. For doors, this will be things like thermal performance, acoustic rating and air permeability and these have to be written on a “Declaration of Performance” (DoP) or a label on the product.

The CPR requires products to demonstrate that they perform as expected and are manufactured consistently. DoorTechnik have worked closely with BM Trada who have conducted our factory audits and calculated the various performances. We are pleased to say that we now CE mark all our doors that have a harmonised standard.

The CE mark either needs to be on the product or on accompanying paperwork so we have opted to use permanent labels inside the closing edge of the door. If for any reason you need to remove the label, please ask us for the DoP for the product.

Fire doors don’t need to be CE marked at the moment, but this will be happening at some point in the not too distant future. As soon as the harmonised standard is available, we will be working on CE marking our fire rated doorsets.
